As it does the work of both central
heating boiler and a hot water cylinder, it's compact, usually wall hung in
the kitchen and includes the need for a separate hot water cylinder, thus
giving you more space in your home as you wont need an airing cupboard.
Installation cost may be lower and fitting usually causes less disruption
than with a conventional boiler.
Combination boilers or combi boilers, provide hot water for central heating
radiators and service hot water for all appliance.
These boilers were developed and utilised on the European main land in the
1970's being the first utilised in small scale dwellings. Successful
development of the product has seen then combi's market share grow to the
point where some market analyst expect that by the year 2000 some 50% of
all boilers sold in the UK will be combi's
